Irene García Pina
Murcia, 1992
Irene is an artist at ASSIDO, the Association for People with Down Syndrome and Intellectual Disabilities in Murcia, Spain, where she develops her artistic practice through the organisation’s Art and Creativity Programme.
She has found in painting one of her greatest passions, alongside ceramics. Both disciplines allow her to explore her creativity and express her personality through colour, texture and form, making art an essential part of her everyday life.
Her work is distinguished by the delicacy of its brushwork, meticulous attention to detail and a constant pursuit of excellence. Irene enjoys dedicating time to each piece, carefully refining every element until it reflects the vision she has imagined.
For Irene, creativity offers a space of freedom and self-expression where she can experiment with new techniques, discover different ways of working and continually expand her artistic perspective. Every artwork represents a new challenge and an opportunity to grow, learn and evolve as an artist.
Art has become her own visual language—a place where she can communicate with confidence and spontaneity, expressing emotions, ideas and experiences that often go beyond words. Through her creations, she builds meaningful connections with viewers, inviting them to see the world through her unique perspective.
Her work is also part of ASSIDO DESIGN, an inclusive design initiative that transforms original artworks by artists with intellectual disabilities into beautifully crafted homeware and lifestyle products. Through this project, her creativity reaches beyond the studio, becoming ethical, artist-designed objects that celebrate inclusion, support people with disabilities and demonstrate how exceptional design can create meaningful social impact.
Her compositions are filled with vibrant colour and reveal both a remarkable sensitivity and a natural creative talent. Rich in harmony, expressiveness and carefully balanced details, her work creates a joyful and engaging visual universe. Each piece conveys warmth, optimism and authenticity, encouraging viewers to pause, look closely and discover the many subtle details woven into her art.
